On New Year's day the 593 collective are doing a gig for PEOPLE from Japan. They play awesome rock'n'roll noise punk, like the Swankys. Also on the bill are Notts mentalists WHITE FINGER and 593 will be DJ'ing after, spinning loads of punk rock party bangers.

Here the story:

When Diagnosis? Bastard! played at the studio, some dickheads that were not at the gig sneaked through and went inside the building, emptying some fire extinguisher and making a mess. CCTV clearly show them going through the gig, so Boulty (the guy running the studio where the gig was) is left with a £600 bill from the building management (of which £300 is bullshit admin fees, bu...t the T&C means they have him over a barrel).

This sucks and Boulty is not the kind of guy to go asking for help, so we're doing it for him. Nottingham DIY owes the man a massive debt of gratitude, I can't recall how many time Boulty bailed the 593 Collective, or one of our bands by lending equipment or whatnot, so yeah, time to payback!

 

Let's start getting the ball rolling, we've got a raffle coming, with prize such as some DITW, Dietpills and AOFR test presses, posters and prints from Chirs Summerlin, Tara Hill, Steve Larder, goodies from Feast of Tentacles, Viral Age, Witch Hunter, some gift vouchers from the Music Exchange, and many more etc. etc.

The tickets will go on sale at the Bong gig a Chameleon on Sunday and will be available from The Music Exchange after that

Upcoming releases + Distro update

Hi, a bit of news:
I have some new releases planned/in the works.
NADIR recently recorded 5 tracks, which we are in the process of mixing/mastering. 4 of these will be released on cassette/download on VRLG in the near future. The other will probably end up on a split.

BISMUTH have recorded a heavy epic for their split with UNDERSMILE. Their song is currently being mastered and UNDERSMILE are due to record their side soon. This will be released on 12" as a co-release between VRLG and De Graanrepubliek.

BEAST AS GOD a new heavy hardcore band from Notts featuring folks from MOLOCH, DEAD IN THE WOODS, NADIR, HUFFIN' PAINT etc. are set to record a demo that will be out on VRLG as a tape/download.

There are a couple more things lined up for the future but more on those in good time.

I managed to grab a couple of copies each of BONG: MANA-YOOD-SUSHAI and LOBSTER PRIEST: CRUCIAL TRADING LP's for the distro too. Please have a look and maybe pick up some bits to help me fund these new releases.

This is happening soon. We are very happy that the Chameleon is staying open and that the 593 collective can be part of the re-launch weekend. This venue has been an integral part of Nottingham's DIY/underground music scene for some time, and is basically the best venue in Nottingham. We are also very happy to be bringing the mighty Bong back to Nottingham, combined with the Woven Skull/Nacht Un Nebel tourThis gig will be a blast and promises to be an evening of total sonic overload. Viral Age distro (+ maybe some others) will be in attendance.

EGS repress

EGS LP repress is here. 180 copies on heavy red vinyl. We also got some new shirts done with the Skweela design, printed off white with 'Discharge' ink and some patches. We will take as many as we can carry to Sweden.

Big distro update. I only have 1 or 2 copies of a lot of these records but I got a bunch of Heratys EP's. I also just got the 3rd press of the ENDLESS GRINNING SKULLS LP. 180 copies of heavy red vinyl. This time the covers are printed on tick, uncoated paper, as I originally intended.

EGS in SWEDEN

Next weekend EGS will be braving the shitty weather and heading North to play 3 gigs in Sweden. To celebrate VRLG has repressed the EGS LP on heavy translucent red vinyl (200 copies). This will be the 3rd press of the record. The records have been deliverd and are awaiting collection, so I should get them tomorrow. The covers have been here for some time and look great. This time they are printed on thick uncoated paper, as I originally intended.

Distro update - Nottingham

I'm really happy to have copies of 2 brand new releases from some good friends of mine, both from Nottingham.

First up is the NACHT UND NEBEL/W>A>S>P>S split 7". Nacht Und Nebel is the solo noise project of Henry Davies (Moloch/AOFR/DITW/Nadir) After a slew of CDr and Cassette releases here is the first vinyl outing for Nacht Und Nebel. 3 short dark soundscapes, created from heavily processed cello loops and decaying electronics. On the flip side w>a>s>p>s presents 1 track of brutally heavy bass surf wall and electricity shock.

Secondly is the new GUILTY PARENTS - 'NORO' tape. Guilty Parents play blown out, noisy, dirty, psychedelic punk. Trying to compare these guys to other bands would be pointless as they have a sound all of their own. At times catchy and rocking, at times brooding and dissonant. Always killer. Mucus green tape with 4 new tracks plus remix by Patrick Milsom.
